Le Schnockeloch – Strasbourg – France Visit Review: 14.2

Hans at the Mosquito Hole

Schnockeloch (Mosquito Hole). What is this unpronounceable name? !! Obviously, you must be Alsatian to arrive to pronounce without stuttering what looks rather to a borborygme.

Hans at the mosquito hole was a perpetual dissatisfied. All he had, he did not want it, and whatever he wanted he did not have, said the song. Apart from this name, the only real flaw of his restaurant is linked to his success.

That is to say, when there is busy, the service is overwhelmed and can no longer follow. Except that, it’s a real pleasure to push the door of this establishment that has existed for decades.

My need for healing will obligatorily push me to start with a few flammekueches to share (easy with a table of three children, guaranteed success!).

Then let’s tackle the serious things with either snails or foie gras accompanied by a Gewurztraminer jelly. Then, heads or tails? Sauerkraut or baeckeoffe? It’s awful, everything is good.

You will understand, we are in a traditional house, although we can regret a surroundings a bit impersonal. Generous portions, smiling service, a good stop in Strasbourg.

Bill of 131,20 euros for 2 adults and 3 children.
