Le Club (i) – Paris – France
- Romain Casas
Each Parisian knows that since few years, boat owners have decided to end the disastrous reputation (and deserved at the time) of fluvial gastronomy.
The Bateaux-Mouches are in this positive line and it is indeed to Christian Etchebest (and not Philippe, thanks avoiding confusion) that they asked to advise the menu of this fixed barge located on the banks of the Seine. And it is now Romain Casas who realizes the dishes in the kitchen.
I won’t spread a lot about the view, exceptional, on the Eiffel Tower. The Parisians may make their jaded, we ask for more.
But let’s talk about the important thing, the plate.
As it is the season, enjoy an asparagus wrapped in a sheet of brick and accompanied by a perfect sabayon. The little hint of color and taste will be the sprinkling of matcha tea powder on it. Excellent initiative because powdered matcha tea has an extremely dry texture. The association is perfect in the mouth.
The pan-fried foie gras is risky by associating fat and sugar, fortunately, rhubarb, to bring an acidulated taste and relieve the first two elements.
Follow a classic veal accompanied by the famous fregola sarda, pasta whose characteristic is to finish baked, which gives them this original taste.
Dessert chocolate and carrot a little less convincing in both texture and taste despite a nice presentation.
So good spot on the Seine, breathtaking view (maximum rating!), very good table, far from abusive prices and, icing on the cake, free parking.
