Chez Paul – Paris – France
Ever and ever
It seems that, from Lyon to Paris, the restaurants “Chez Paul” are all in their own juice! But this one is definitely bigger than the Lyon place.
As the years went by, it spread over several buildings and several floors. This gives the whole a quirky appearance that contributes to the charm of the place. The decoration is also made of odds and ends, paintings, mirrors, posters, photographs on the walls as and when available.
The service is mostly female except the bartender who welcomes you with joviality. The smile is one of the constants of the establishment despite schedules and an activity that we feel charged. It works, it runs, it serves, and always in the good mood.
The menu is in unison with the decor, the old-fashioned way.
Hard boiled eggs with foie gras, leeks vinaigrette with snails of Burgundy, marrow bones with the plate of charcuterie, all the classics are present.
As for the dishes, my preference goes steadily towards the Temptation of Saint-Antoine, pantagruelian plate of foot, snout, ear and tail of pig breaded and grilled. Good progress since my lats visit, the potatoes very less dry.
For this last diner, we were 4 and the others tried kidneys and roquefort veal. As I ate kidneys and roquefort, I believe them we they told me it was good.
Served with traditional gratin dauphinois.
Otherwise you have an AAAAA andouillette with purple mustard to give color to life.
Some symbolic fish.
Pear for dessert is worth a visit, as well as rum baba and tarte Tatin.
Wine list equilibrated.
Check of 158,50 euros for 4 people. Wine included.
