Baystone Restaurant – Pointe aux Canonniers – Mauritius Visit Review: 11.2

Except the view, no salvation.

Apart from the restaurants of the most luxury hotels in Mauritius, the others usually offer lunch only a very watered down card quite inconsistent with what they post on their site or social networks. Of course, you have lunch there sympathetically but do not expect to find the gastronomy displayed for dinner.

The advantage is that they leave the external clientele much easier to enter than the first hotels.

Baystone is a “boutique-hotel”, very “design”.

Baystone’s main interest is its view of Grand Baie Bay.

In good weather, it’s superb. Opposite, the public beach of La Cuvette, wedged between the Royal Palm and Veranda Grand Bay. (The latter give itself the distinction 3 stars 1/2 (!) on its website.)

Back to Baystone, simple meal and without great relief, but not (too) expensive.

Dishes between 9 and 15 euros, the most interesting of which are the fish tartar, the inverted bowl (the cheapest) and the rougaille sausage.

My advice? Lose a lot of time taking a cocktail before enjoying the view.
